Dorie Biagianti Smith’s law practice primarily focuses on criminal defense and family law. Criminal defense includes defense of juveniles and adults for all types of misdemeanors and felonies. Practice of family law includes divorce, child custody disputes, child support issues, and guardian ad litem work. Ms. Biagianti Smith frequently volunteers for the First Judicial District Court’s Family Law – Resolution Days, as a court appointed attorney/mediator.

Ms. Biagianti Smith’s legal service includes:
Contract counsel for the Law Office of the Public Defender (2015 to present).
Contract Hearing Officer for the Department of Game and Fish (2014 to present).
Contract Prosecutor for Municipal Court for the County of Los Alamos (2016 to present).

Prior to her solo practice, Ms. Biagianti Smith worked as the Chief Deputy District Attorney for the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In this capacity Ms. Biagianti Smith supervised the Crimes Against Children Unit which included prosecution of first and second degree felonies in regards to child physical abuse, child sexual abuse, and felony adult criminal sexual penetration.

Ms. Biagianti Smith also served as the Chief Deputy District Attorney for the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Espanola, New Mexico, where she supervised attorneys and support staff in charge of the prosecution of first and second degree felonies before three separate District Court Judges.

Dorie Biagianti Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Magna Cum Laude from Coastal Carolina University and Juris Doctor from University of South Carolina School of Law. Dorie is a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico where she excelled in academics and sports which carried through college where she was co-captain of her Division 1 Women’s basketball team and a proud member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Alpha Kappa Delta honor societies.
